Girls Opportunity Alliance Network (“Network”) Privacy Statement By registering and using the Girls Opportunity Alliance Network, you are agreeing to the Foundation’s use and retention of the personal data that you submit on the Network in accordance with this Privacy Statement, and the Foundation’s overarching Privacy statement, as well as the Network’s Terms of Use and Community Guidelines which are available in the Network’s Resource Hub. Network Roles: The Foundation makes the Network website and app available to “users,” including yourself, who are current members of the Girls Opportunity Alliance Network. To accomplish this, the Foundation uses service providers like the technology provider KIT SAS (doing business as Hivebrite). In this regard, the Foundation’s role can be described as a “data controller” and its service providers’ roles can be described as “processors.” A chart with additional information about service providers is provided at the end of this document. You may contact the Foundation with questions about this at [email protected]; or by mail at 1235 S. Harper Court, Chicago, Illinois, 60615. For privacy-specific questions, you also may reach the Foundation at: [email protected]. Information You Provide: In order to participate in the Network, as a User, you must provide the following information, so that we may operate the Network. ● Your first and last name ● Your birthdate ● Your email address ● Your affiliation with the Foundation (program, staff etc.) ● Sectors and issues on which you work ● The geographic area in which you are based (at the country or city level, as you chose) ● Additional details about the nature of your work to serve adolescent girls and information about your organization if you are affiliated with a girl-serving organization The foregoing information is necessary for the Foundation to authenticate your account and operate the Network. Failure to provide this information may result in inability to register or use the Network. The Network also offers users the opportunity to provide additional optional information, which would populate a profile visible to other Network users, like a directory. Optional profile information may include: ● Your employment (organization and title) ● Your location(s) ● Your language(s) ● How you would like to be addressed (pronouns) ● Your bio, skills, needs, and other professional introductory information (fun facts, questions you can answer, other offers) ● Your online contact information (email and social media handle) ● A photograph or other professional visual representation of yourself If you do not provide optional information, your Network profile visible to other users will be limited to your name, affiliation and country. This list of required and optional profile information may be periodically updated by the Foundation in accordance with the goals of operating the Network. Additionally, during your use of the Network, you will have the opportunity to post, at your own initiative, content including personal information. You may decide to provide sensitive or special information (as defined by data protection laws), for instance, data revealing racial or ethnic origin, religious or philosophical beliefs, union membership, sexual orientation. By providing such data, you expressly consent to the processing of such data by the Network. Additionally, by providing such data, you agree that you accept the possible risks and consequences of (and the Foundation shall not be responsible for) your sharing of such data on the Network, including the potential for other users to save, reproduce, use or further distribute your data in unpermitted, disagreeable, or harmful ways. Use, Sharing, and Retention of Your Information: The Foundation uses the information you provide for purposes of operating the Network, and as you consent. As is more fully described in the Privacy statement, the Foundation will retain the personal information it receives from you via the Network during the length of your use of the Network, unless there is a legitimate interest or legal basis for a longer retention period. If you are based in countries with data protection laws, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), be aware that the Network is a U.S. offering. But also that the Foundation processes the information that you provide via the Network on the legal basis of consent. This includes account authentication information, invitations to participate in Foundation or Network events and activities, any optional information you chose to provide via the Network and any analytics the Foundation uses to better understand the Network’s use and to make improvements to it. We may further have a legitimate interest in processing your personal data. For example, we may process your personal data to improve the Network, and to provide for the security of you, other users, or our staff. Read more about the Foundation’s privacy practices here.
